Profile
Specialty Tank & Equipment
Company was started in 1940 by the
late Virgil C. Mann. With the start of
World War II, Virgil was able to establish a
steel allotment before the government suspended
any new applications for steel. He was
also able to get the necessary machinery needed
to begin manufacturing tanks.
Virgil and Doris Mann had three sons
(Carroll, William and Carlton) who grew up in
the business and later took over operations in
1972. Specialty
Tank continued to grow by helping
the fishing industry with construction of tanks
used for the fishing boats. In addition,
their business branched out by providing
underground fuel tanks for gas stations.
In 1990, Steven Mann and Wesley Mann, sons of
William and Carroll Mann, became partners of
Specialty Tank. With new regulations with
gas stations, business continued to grow in the
underground tank industry.
Specialty Tank added a
new facility on campus that was able to produce
larger tanks and add additional offerings to
customers.
Today, the Mann family continues to be a
competitor in the steel tank industry.
Focused on providing personalized customer
service and quality steel products,
Specialty Tank
continues the traditions of Virgil C.
Mann while moving into the new
millennium. |
